Training is offered in the following majors:
- Organic chemical engineering
- Chemical engineering of fuels and carbon materials
- Environmental protection and the rational use of natural resources.
Eminent Russian scientists headed the departments of the faculty : academicians S.S. Namyotkin, A.V, Topchiev, I.I. Chernyayev, V.I Isagulyants, Ya. M. Paushkin, correspondent - member of the Academy of Sciences N.S. Namyotkin, professors G.M. Panchenkov, K.F. Zhigach, N.I. Chernozhukov, S. N. Obryadchikov, A.M. Tregubov, I.L. Gurevich, Ye.V. Smidovich, A.F. Lunin who contributed to the development of the national school of hydrocarbon processing and petroleum chemistry.
Dean - Assistant Professor B. P. Tonkonogov
The faculty is as old as the University. The training offered here is oriented toward the latest in the equipment and processes related to hydrocarbon processing, creation of new materials and chemical agents applied in the petroleum industry.
Environmental education, which has become one of the most urgent concerns of the industry, focuses on such issues as waste management and environmental problems of hydrocarbon processing and rational use.
Those interested in organic chemical engineering specialize in chemical engineering and chemical agents used to improve efficiency of the main technological processes of the industry: drilling, production, transportation, processing etc.
Graduates of the organic and petrochemical synthesis department are prepared both to operate and design petrochemical synthesis plants, as well as to create and study new processes of petrochemical synthesis.
The faculty is comprised of 8 departments:
Technology of Oil Refining
Chemistry of Gas
Chemistry and Technology of Lubricating Materials and Tribology
Chemical Engineering for Oil and Gas Industries
Environmental Engineering
General and Inorganic Chemistry
Organic Chemistry and Chemistry of Oil
Physical and Colloid Chemistry
The faculty has established
Research Institute of Fundamental Problems of Natural Gas Processing
Foundation "The National Environmental Management and Cleaner Production Center for Oil and Gas Industries" (UNIDO)
Institute of Petroleum Chemistry
